Very in depth technical instructions on pistol shooting which for the beginner will be invaluable and for the more advanced confirmation you are on the right track. There was some advice that even after over 40 years of shooting I never knew about, so it is worth the money in that where are you going to get a lifetime coach for a one off payment that you can keep going back to for advice? Every serious pistol shooter should have this book in their library.

I have long and extensive experience with shooting although my only competitive shooting was .22 rimfire free rifle intercollegiate competition (35 years ago). I have only recently taken up 10m air pistol shooting. I have had no formal coaching/instruction in this discipline. I have read 60 pages so far. I thought it would be "stand up straight and hold your arm steady", but the book has been very helpful in numerous ways. While they are not to specific regarding particular physical exercises to increase strength, there are many useful bits of info and hints in the areas of breathing and the entire sequence of taking position, aiming and firing a shot. The authors do go into great detail regarding shooting procedures. I do some things slightly differently from the procedures which they recommend, but their advice to write down my specific procedure step by step so as to fix it in memory and ensure consistency from shot to shot, was very useful, as are many of their other little tips, particularly regarding spatial orientation and ways to maintain relaxation of the shooting muscles as much as possible both at rest and during shooting. The book is of much more practical use than I had thought it would be. Perhaps it is not needed if you are taking fromal instruction from a good coach, but I suspect you would find useful hints between the covers even if you are fourtunate enough to have an good coach. Highly recommended. My procedure below simply for interest, NOT the same as recommended in book, works with my 74 year olf body: o Feet in line with target o Relax right shoulder - finger on guard o Grip o Weight even on feet, ball-heel balance even o Breaths 5, 4 - relax/concentrate o Breath 3 - lock knees, lean back and to left o Breath 2 - centre target in aperature, visualize sight picture o Breath 1 - raise pistol & relax right shoulder - finger on guard o Finger on trigger - focus on front sight – sight picture o Take shot o Follow through - finger on guard o Relax right shoulder as soon as pistol on rest
