Building on the Black II and Black II cheekpieces, Grünig & Elmiger have now released their new Smallbore Cheekpiece. This new model allows the mechanism to be mounted on either side of the ratchet, providing a much wider range of possible adjustments, and doing away with the need for two different models.
The familiar hinged front section for those who have the cheekpiece mounted well forward, and a fold-up panel on the side to allow access to some of the adjustment screws, are retained. Also carried forward are the thumbwheel vertical adjuster, along with two lateral adjusters allowing the cheekpiece to easily be adjusted for the perfect head position.
A new 3D joint in the centre of the mechanism allows for a far greater degree of adjustment than was possible with the older models, ensuring that you can achieve an optimal setup in every position.
In addition to the pictures shown here, there is an excellent video on Grünig & Elmiger's YouTube channel demonstrating the flexibility of this new cheekpiece - click here to watch it.
